Zoo day!
Maya had been looking forward to today’s school field trip for weeks. And because it was my very last opportunity of the school year to volunteer my talented chaperoning services, I tagged along with the class - with Henry in the Ergo!
The San Francisco Zoo is located way, way out on the very westernmost edge of Outer Sunset and I had forgotten how windy it is out there by the water! And, being the Mother Of The Year that I am, I had my poor kid dressed in nothing but a tutu and a tank top. Thank goodness I found an old, near-forgotten cardigan in the bottom of my backpack!
All the kids were instructed to pair up when we got off the bus. Maya picked her friend Matty to be her buddy for the day. Matty is such a sweet boy. He was in charge of the map.
We saw zebras, giraffes, penguins, peacocks, monkeys, lions, tigers and a rhino. I wanted to take more photos but it was a challenge wearing Henry and minding M & M. I was only able to snap a handful of pics on my iPhone.
By the end of the tour, about half the class started melting down. Those little legs walked a lot and exhaustion had really set in. A few of the kids (including Matty) even fell asleep on the bus ride back to school.
Maya was tired too. When we got home, she grabbed her Beedoo (blanket) and a book, and crawled into our bed for a little rest before dinner, tutu and all.
